I fell in love with music at an early age, I’m lucky in that way. Nearly 25 years after playing my first show, I’m still equally possessed and consistently digging for more. I’m on the hook, always trying to catch a song when it floats by, forever tinkering & always dying to hear something new. I’ve been playing in bands & writing songs my whole life, hopefully I’ll be able to say that forever. I hope I always have something to say & something to learn about myself that can only be achieved through music. The experiences I’ve had through playing with artists & bands like The Howdy Men, Evan Stepp & The Piners, Anchor Bends, Former Sinners of the Future, Ben Trickey, Nikki Lane, Jason Waller, Ryan Sheffield, New Junk City, The Gonzo Orchestra, The Canyoneros, Throw Out the Obvious & Shutter have not only improved my life, but defined it. It’s no different than how I approach visual art, Music has always been about the love, the learning, the energy, the excitement, the comfort and the unknowing. Everything I love about art, I love about music. The fact that I’m able to bridge the two and live a life that is driven & supported by both means I did something right somewhere along the way. Hell, I’m not even that good at playing it, but I’m pretty damn good at listening. - <3 jRay
